Wayne Tucker

Wayne Tucker is a Trumpet player/Composer/Arranger based in New York City. He is a 2009 graduate of the Jazz Studies program at SUNY Purchase under the direction of Todd Coolman. Wayne has played with many of today’s current Jazz stars including Kurt Elling, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Cyrille Aimee, and Pop stars like Taylor Swift, David Crosby, Elvis Costello, Matt Simons and Ne-Yo. He has performed at some of the worlds greatest venues including Madison Square Garden, The Hollywood Bowl, Avery Fisher Hall, The Apollo Theatre, The Ravinia Festival and The Kennedy Center. He has played for TV shows like The Tonight Show, America’s Got Talent, Jimmy Kimmel, Ellen Degeneres, The Today Show and Good Morning America, and appeared in commercials for companies like Dove, SAP and Get Your Guide. Additionally he wrote the soundtrack and co-stars in the new film Hotel Bleu alongside longtime Broadway star Julie Halston. Wayne has also performed at clubs and festivals all over the world in places like Italy, France, Germany, Israel Korea, Dominican Republic, and Colombia. He was a participant in the 2009 & 2011 Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Program, 2009 National Trumpet Competition, 2009 & 2011 Steans Institute, 2005 New York All-State Jazz Orchestra and more. Wayne can be seen performing in New York City, and around the world with many of today’s current and up and coming stars.

Astrid Kuljanic

Renowned for her complex musical sensibility and supple sound, Croatian vocalist Astrid Kuljanic has immersed herself in an eclectic variety of musical traditions from around the world. Her journey from the Balkans to New York has allowed her to absorb Jazz, Brazilian, and Indian music and acquire an advanced knowledge of performing with electronics using Ableton Live. Astrid is equally skilled in faithful interpretations of these styles as she is inventive in her own arrangements – employing mixed meters and folk harmonies personally and authentically. With her New York quartet Transatlantic Exploration Company, she celebrated the debut album Riva with a sold-out concert at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Astrid performed in venues such as Jazz Standard and Gramercy Theatre in NYC, The Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Teatro O’Nariz in Portugal, JZ Hangzhou, China, as well as festivals like Refugee Day at Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, Earshot Jazz in Seattle, Mendocino in California, GoldenFest in Brooklyn, Lent in Slovenia and Ordokatlan in Hungary.

SaRon Crenshaw

SaRon Crenshaw learned to play guitar at the age of ten. In the 70’s and 80’s he made his living playing bass for several bands in New Jersey, New York and South Carolina. Today, he travels the country playing guitar and specializing in Jazz and Rhythm and Blues. He has performed at Blues venues and festivals in the East Coast for the past decade and has a particularly large following in the Tri-State area. He has shared stages with many talented recording artists such as Lee Fields, Roy Roberts, Denise Lasalle, Bobby Rush, Jessie James, Tyrone Davis, and Chuck Roberson. In 2010 and 2011, SaRon had the honor of opening up for Robert Cray and B.B.King on the big stages in Connecticut and won love from the audience with his acoustic performances. Saron’s love is the Blues and he has been inspired by some of the greatest singers and players of all time: B.B. King, Albert King, Albert Collins, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Buddy Guy to name a few. SaRon plays a Gibson “Lucille” model guitar signed by B.B.King himself.  He is a powerful entertainer and is never afraid to take his performance straight into the audience.

Ben Rosenblum

Award-winning jazz pianist, composer and accordionist Ben Rosenblum has been described as “mature beyond his years,” (Sea of Tranquility), and as an “impressive talent” (All About Jazz), who “caresses [the music] with the reverence it merits” (Downbeat Magazine). An internationally-touring bandleader, Rosenblum has performed with his trio throughout the United States, including extensive tours of the Northeast, Midwest, South and West Coast, as well as in Canada, Europe and Japan. He was a featured soloist at Carnegie Hall’s Stern-Perelman Auditorium with Maestro Reona Ito’s New York Harmonic Band, and has appeared at numerous prestigious venues throughout the world, including at the Appel Room at Lincoln Center, Kuumbwa Jazz Center, Ravinia, the Library of Congress, Bird’s Eye in Basel, Switzerland and Himawari-No-Sato Concert Hall in Yokohama, Japan. Rosenblum was a finalist at the 2015 American Jazz Piano Competition in Melbourne, FL and at the 2016 Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition in Jacksonville, FL, and his composition has received multiple awards from the ASCAP Foundation and the Downbeat Student Music Awards. He has worked extensively with such jazz luminaries as Curtis Lundy, Neal Smith, Winard Harper, Wayne Escoffery and Deborah Davis, and he has shared the stage with Houston Person, Sean Jones, Dave Stryker, Steve Nelson, TS Monk and many others. Rosenblum was born and raised in New York City, and is a graduate of the joint program between Columbia University and Juilliard School of Music.

Jonathan Parker

From Washington D.C. to Shanghai, China, saxophonist Jonathan Parker has brought a dynamic musicianship to appreciative audiences.  As a sideman, leader, and teacher, Parker has synthesized a varied musical and educational background as he makes his mark on the international jazz scene. Since graduating from The Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 2008 where he studied under jazz legend Gary Bartz, Jonathan has gone on to perform in cities across the United States and China.  He relocated to Shanghai in 2008 where he lived and performed for two years.  During his time in Shanghai, Jonathan became an in-demand sideman appearing at jazz and pop festivals in cities throughout China including Beijing, Hangzhou, and Hong Kong.  In 2010 The Kennedy Center, recognizing Jonathan’s talent for jazz composition and performance, accepted him into their Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Program.  In the fall of 2010 Jonathan moved to New York City and released his critically-acclaimed debut album – “The Jonathan Parker Group.”  “It presents a very strong introduction to the music and saxophone prowess of a talent who is poised to make his mark in that crowded NYC scene” writes SomethingElse Reviews.  Jonathan was also a recipient of the 2012 ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award for his original composition, Lois. After completing a Masters Degree in Jazz Performance from The Eastman School of Music, Jonathan now is currently teaching and performing in the greater Washington DC area.  He is in the process of releasing his second album entitled “Interloper” on the One Trick Dog label.

Tom Larsen

People vs. Larsen has offered an innovative voice in the indie/blues music scenes in New York since 2012 and have established themselves as one of the “best live bands” in New York City.  Emanating from a wide breath of influence centered around the blues, People vs. Larsen delivers a musical experience which infuses blues, rock, jazz and indie music, and gives audiences a powerful, soulful and uplifting experience. People vs. Larsen released their debut self-titled record in the fall of 2012, and their second album “Loving Losing” in January of 2016.  Music from both albums have been played on radio stations across the US, including KCRW in Los Angeles.  “Loving Losing”, the group’s second album, features the addition of renowned Crosby Stills Nash organist Todd Caldwell, and showcases the breadth of Tom Larsen’s compositional and arranging prowess, as well as the ballad single Loving Losing, which is the title track of the album. The band has played venues across New York, and continued a four year residency at the McKittrick Hotel.  They have toured all over the Northeastern US, California, Southeastern United States, as well as Mexico.  The group is currently working on material for a third album to be released on One Trick Dog records at the end of 2017.

Alida Rohr

Alida Rohr is a band leader who produces, arranges and writes her own material. She has recorded and/or performed with Joe Pass, Larry Coryell, Manny Williams, Harvey Diamond, Jon Davis, Lowell Skinner Davidson, Joanne Brackeen. Members of her Band have included D. Sharpe, Stuart Hamm, Bruce Arnold, Pedro Ito, Nando Michelin, Esperanza Spalding, David Maxwell, Sergio Brandao, Mike Rivard, Nii Narku and Ben Rosenblum.  She has 6 released CDs and released a Cycle of Songs & Soundscapes in collaboration with Midnight’s Exile in 2014. Benjamin Sutin

Benjamin Sutin began his career in Philadelphia, where he studied with legendary jazz violinist, John Blake, Jr at the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz. After graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Jazz Violin Performance from Manhattan School of Music in 2015, Benjamin released Tangibility, a debut album with his project, Klazz-Ma-Tazz (a jazz, world music fusion group which blurs the boundaries of labels and genres). Other than Sutin, the ensemble is comprised of saxophonist Elijah Shiffer, pianist Ben Rosenblum, guitarist Grant Goldstein, bassist Mathew Muntz, drummer Tim Rachbach and guest tabla player, Ani Challa. Sutin has had the privilege of performing in venues such as NJPAC’s Victoria Theater, Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Nassau Coliseum, Clifford Brown Jazz Festival and more. He has performed with the likes of the Tran-Siberian Orchestra, Larry Harlow, Bobby Sanabria, Pandit Samir Chatterjee, Ronnie Burrage, Benito Gonzalez, George Burton, Diane Monroe, and Tommy Byrnes, and he has also garnered acclaim in the jazz violin community from the likes of Jean-Luc Ponty, Regina Carter, Christian Howes and Sara Caswell. On hearing Sutin, Caswell wrote, “His adventurous musical lines and under-lying creative energy left me feeling I’d witnessed a unique voice destined for something great.” Sutin is also a sought after pianist and jazz string educator throughout New York and New Jersey.

Juan Carlos Polo

NYC based Peruvian drummer, composer, and educator  Juan Carlos Polo is one of the most versatile and creative musicians of his generation. Classically trained, he blends a number of influences in his playing including those of his native Peru. Since his arrival to the United States in December 2016, Juan Carlos has worked  with prominent musicians of the jazz scene such as the multiple Grammy Award-winner, pianist, and composer Arturo O’Farrill; tenor saxophonist Daniel Blake; Grammy Award nominee and major Latin Jazz pianist Edsel Gomez; cellist and composer Akua Dixon, and saxophonist and composer Jure Pukl, among others. He holds a bachelor’s degree in classical percussion from the National Conservatory of Music in Peru. Despite interest in other genres of music, classical music helped to fine tune his technique and add rhythmic influence to the music he plays today. Juan Carlos chooses to let his music be influenced by his own experiences rather than to adhere to strict cultural tradition.His playing is an unconscious tendency grounded in multiple styles and regions, while still remaining faithful to Peruvian tradition. His music is thus an extension of his own life.

Elijah Shiffer

New York-based saxophonist/composer Elijah Shiffer plays and writes music rooted in the jazz tradition, while incorporating elements of contemporary classical music and traditional music from around the world. His New York City performance credits include Birdland, Fat Cat, Smalls, The Jazz Gallery, Cornelia Street Cafe, ShapeShifter Lab, The Iridium, Minton’s, Smoke, and The Stone. Elijah’s debut CD, “Unhinged”, was released in April 2018 on OneTrickDog Records. The band on this recording, Elijah Shiffer And The Robber Crabs, is a quartet combining the influences of early jazz and avant-garde jazz. With the title track from this CD, Elijah won a Young Jazz Composer Award from the ASCAP Foundation. Elijah has performed with his own groups (which also include the Crown Heights Saxophone Quartet and Bearing Straight) at a variety of venues around NYC, from Silvana to ABC No Rio to Jalopy Theater to the Tea Lounge (now the Slope Lounge). Elijah also plays in Cecilia Coleman’s big band, appearing in this band on some of vocalist Ronny Whyte’s 2019 CD “Whyte Witchcraft”; Elijah’s first performance at Birdland was this CD’s release show in October 2019. He has participated in the BMI Jazz Composers Workshop, and conducted compositions of his on the workshop’s 2017, 2018, and 2019 big band concerts. Elijah received both Bachelor of Music (jazz saxophone) and Master of Music (jazz composition) degrees from Manhattan School of Music. His teachers at MSM included Jim McNeely, Richard Sussman, Todd Reynolds, David Liebman, Donny McCaslin, and Steve Wilson. Other people Elijah has studied with include Barry Harris, Charles Davis, Jason Rigby, and Ed Palermo.

Dev Avidon

Dev is a jazz-rock fusion composer, singer, engineer and producer, working primarily in New York. These days, he spends the majority of his time designing revolutionary speakers and audio technology with his company, Ex Machina Soundworks.  He also runs a successful small studio on Roosevelt Island. He has recorded, mixed and mastered for a wide range of renowned artists such as Steven Mercurio, Andres Boiarsky, Kings Legacy, Tom Larsen, Roy Assaf, and many others. His unique progressive-rock/jazz-fusion hybrid style has been hailed as an “original voice that is quite hard to compare” (Strutterzine) but shows influences from artists such as Steely Dan, The Smiths, Pink Floyd, Yes and David Bowie. His latest release, Tears of Men, features an all-star lineup of musicians, with a core band of Roy Assaf, Karl Latham, Mark Egan and Oz Noy and guest performances by Keve Wilson, Mike Dease, Rubin Khodeli and many others. Over the years, Dev has earned widespread critical acclaim and accolade for his creative work. He was recently recognized on Bobby McFerrin’s masterpiece album Vocabularies, and has won many awards for his creative writing and lyricism, including 13 regional and 4 national Scholastic Gold Key awards.

Katini Yamaoka

Born to a Japanese mother and Ghanaian father, Katini is the embodiment of a global artist who is fluent in 3 languages and whose talent has taken her from Australia to America through Japan.  She has been described by an industry insider as the “deca-threat” for her ability to maintain a soulful, rich and raw vocal while performing flawless choreography. After a successful jazz fusion album with One Trick Dog*, Katini has been making waves in the R&B and pop music world. Recently, Katini released her single Neon Lights produced by multi platinum producer Rance Dopson (Jay Z, Arianna Grande, Sam Smith). Katini is currently recording her EP, influenced by her Afro Japanese cultural lineage. Katini has traveled the world performing her music, including her most performance and speech and at the Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit Detroit October 2019 opening for 21 Savage, The Chainsmokers and Normani.   Her music has taken her from stages in Japan, Israel to Australia singing on national television and a featured performance at International Day Of Peace for the UN. Katini has a passion for social impact and while performing and pushing her artistry forward she can be found actively working for gender equality as a board member of New York based charity GC4W. Katini strives to bring a new dimension to pop music with her mission to be the global voice of positive millennial empowerment.

Curtis Ostle

New York City bassist and composer Curtis Ostle is known for his warm sound, lyrical solos, and strong rhythmic sense. The Washington DC City Paper recently applauded his “exquisite work” as a soloist and the “intoxicating, hummable melodic phrases” in his composition “Tranquility.” Since relocating from Shanghai, China three years ago Curtis maintains an active performing, teaching, and touring schedule in the US and Asia, having shared the stage over the past several years with notable musicians including Tommy Campbell, Vic Juris, Howard Brofsky, Ari Hoenig, Dave Kikoski, Claude Diallo, Eliot Zigmund, Tim Armacost, Clarence Penn, Andres Boiarsky, and acclaimed Dutch vocalist, Laura Fygi. Currently, Curtis is a regular performer with a jazz group featured in the wildly successful New York show “Sleep No More” as well having recently played on the Golden Melody Award (Asian Grammy) winning CD, 3rd Month, by acclaimed violinist and producer, Peng Fei. From mid 2008 through early 2012 Curtis was the resident bassist as a member of the Theo Croker Collective. The group performed five nights a week from 2010 to 2012 at the Jazz Bar in the renowned Peace Hotel in Shanghai, a historic destination that has featured live jazz for over 100 years. Curtis also appeared at the 2008 Hong Kong Jazz Festival, the 2010 and 2011 Shanghai Jazz Festivals, and the 2011 Beijing Pop Festival.

Roy Assaf

At the age of 23, after graduating from the Berklee College of Music, Israeli jazz pianist Roy Assaf moved to New York City to pursue his dream. Just a few months passed before he met legendary bassist and producer John Lee; soon Roy found himself touring around the world and playing the most prestigious festivals, clubs, and concert halls with the Dizzy Gillespie All Stars, a band that included James Moody, Jimmy Heath, Paquito D’Rivera, Roy Hargrove, Lewis Nash, Randy Brecker, Antonio Hart, and other jazz masters. Before long, Roy was getting calls from some of the world’s most influential contemporary jazz bands: Slide Hampton Sextet, The Mingus Big Band, Steve Turre’s bands, Roberta Gambarini Quartet, David Sanborn Group, Claudio Roditi Quartet, and many others. Roy also appears on over 20 CD’s as a sideman, co-leader and leader ; He started his new trio with bassist Raviv Markovitz and drummer Jake Goldbas in 2013. Their debut album “Second Row Behind The Painter” was released in June 2014.

Andres Boiarsky

As one of the most versatile and highly trained reed players of his generation, Andres Boiarsky brings a wealth of experience to his excellence as a sideman and leader in the jazz world. From his home in Buenos Aires to the Royal College of Music to the Lionel Hampton Orchestra and beyond, Andres is already leaving an impressive body of work behind as testament of his artistry. His many recordings as a sidemen with Slide Hampton, Nancy Wilson, The Dizzy Gillespie All Stars, Paquito D’Rivera, Jimmy Heath, Claudio Roditi to name but a few, go to show him being recognized as an important feature of the New York jazz scene for well over two decades! As a performer, composer, clinician, Andres is known not only in his New York home base but also internationally since his years living in South America, Europe as well as in China and the countless international tours he has been part of performing at the most prestigious jazz festivals and venues the world over.
